VDE Certification Introduction
VDE stands for Prufstelle Testing and Certification Institute, the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies. Founded in 1920, it is one of the most experienced testing, certification, and inspection bodies in Europe, and is a CE Notified Body authorized by the European Union and a member of the international CB organization. It is recognized in Europe and internationally by the CENELEC European certification system for electrical products, the CECC European harmonized system for electronic component quality assessment, and the global IEC certification system for electrical products and electronic components.

VDE Product Certification Scope
(1) Electric heating and power appliances, such as sandwich ovens, power tools, etc.
(2) Data processing and medical equipment, such as electronic blood pressure monitors, data processing equipment, etc.
(3) Lighting fixtures and electronic products, such as lighting fixtures, digital electronic products, etc.
(4) Cables and insulation materials, such as wires, insulating sleeves, etc.
(5) Installation equipment and control devices;
(6) Electronic components.

Common VDE Marks
a) VDE Mark: Applicable to appliances compliant with the Equipment Safety Regulations (GSG), such as medical devices, electrical components, and wiring accessories.
b) VDE-GS Mark: Applicable to complete machines compliant with the Equipment Safety Regulations (GSG) (can replace the VDE mark).
c) European ENEC Mark: Currently mainly applicable to products such as lighting fixtures and accessories, energy-saving lamps, IT equipment, transformers, and household switches.
d) VDE-EMC Mark: Applicable to appliances compliant with electromagnetic compatibility standards.
e) VDE Cable Mark: Applicable to cables, insulated flexible cords, and conduits.
f) VDE Harmonized Mark: Applicable to cables and insulated flexible cords compliant with harmonized VDE specifications.
VDE Certification Factory Inspection
VDE conducts factory inspections twice a year in principle. Factory inspections primarily examine the consistency between products and samples, but also review relevant inspection procedures, records, measurement, and other quality management documents.

Standard time is 4-5 weeks; expedited service is available for an additional fee.
