To protect the reputation of the UL mark and thus safeguard the interests of manufacturers producing UL-certified products, UL officially launched the Authorized Label Suppliers Program (ALSP) in April 2003.
Under the ALSP, all suppliers authorized to use UL labels must be audited by UL to ensure that their manufactured UL labels fully comply with UL's printing and distribution requirements.
UL certification marks can only be printed on UL-certified products through UL-authorized suppliers.
ALSP Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I print UL certification marks for my own use?
A. If you are currently authorized by UL as a listed manufacturing plant and only use them on products manufactured by your company, you will be allowed to continue enjoying secondary rights.
Q. Are UL-approved parts marks also subject to the ALSP program?
A. UL-approved parts marks are not subject to the ALSP program.
Q. How can I find the nearest authorized label supplier?
A. Please visit the UL Authorized Label Suppliers Database website.
Q. What are the main differences between the ALSP program and other similar UL certification programs?
A. ALSP primarily focuses on the printing and distribution of UL labels, not on the inspection of actual equipment.
For more information about ALSP, please contact your local UL labeling center:

UL provides certification and traceability services for manufacturers, which consumers can identify by the UL mark used on products. Given the importance of the UL mark, manufacturers must submit their UL mark design to the UL Labeling Center for review to ensure all required information is formatted correctly. Only after review can the UL mark be reproduced and affixed to compliant products. This pre-screening eliminates the risk of production disruptions due to non-compliant UL mark design. For more information on replicating the UL mark, please refer to the relevant documentation on printing the UL mark.
UL maintains a database of authorized label suppliers. These suppliers have agreements with UL and are authorized by UL to print labels bearing the UL mark. Only suppliers listed in the database are authorized to print labels bearing the UL mark. If your supplier is not in this database but is interested in joining the program, you can submit an application to UL Customer Service: CustomerService_Industrial_UL@us.ul.com. If you are a manufacturer of UL-certified products and need our assistance in finding UL authorized label suppliers, please contact the UL Label Center.
The fact that a label supplier's name is listed in this database does not necessarily mean that they also comply with UL's "Approved Components" program's marking and labeling system.
To determine whether a supplier complies with both UL's Authorized Label Supplier Program and UL's RoHS (Toxic and Hazardous Substances Control) program, you need to search both sites for confirmation.
Complete UL Mark
A complete UL mark identifies a product as UL approved. A complete UL mark includes the UL logo, the word "LISTED" or "CLASSIFIED," a control number, and the product name. Printing the complete UL mark on the product or on the smallest unit of packaging must be done by an authorized printer or by a UL-authorized original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
An exemption is granted when the UL mark is permanently printed on a component of the final product by another company. For example, if the UL mark is injection-molded onto the casing by another company, UL does not need to include the injection molding company in the PGAA program, given that the casing is a critical component of the final product and is required in the product tracking and inspection service details.
Packaging
For R-class marks, the factory may choose to repeatedly display the complete mark on the packaging. The only requirement is that the complete UL mark on the product or on the smallest unit of packaging must be obtained from an authorized printer or printed by the OEM.
For L-class products, regarding advertising with the UL mark on packaging, please refer to http://www/ul.com/marks. When a complete UL mark cannot be printed on the product itself, it must be displayed on the smallest unit of packaging.
